What do the numbers on the coffee capsule packages mean?

When choosing coffee capsules, someone focuses on their color, assuming that the lighter the capsule, the lighter the drink, and someone looks at the numbers on the package. But does a large number really indicate the strength of the drink? Life around found out from a Nespresso representative what the scale with numbers on capsule coffee packaging actually means.

Many people believe that the numbers on the capsule coffee packaging indicate the strength of the drink, but this not this way.

In fact, they show the intensity of coffee, which is formed from density, taste and aroma. They depend on several factors: the composition of the grains, the degree of grinding and roasting. For example, from harder grains you can create a thicker espresso. And the less grinding, the more oily and dense drink you can get. Roasting also affects the oiliness and taste of the final product: the darker it is, the brighter the bitterness and the richer the aroma.

Most coffee lovers understand the strength of the hard taste and a strong invigorating effect. The latter is achieved due to the caffeine content, which in its pure form is slightly bitter in taste and has no aroma, that is, does not affect the quality of the drink. Coffee bean contains only 1-2% of caffeine from the total mass. To enjoy coffee, just focus on the taste and aroma, which are reflected in the intensity scale.

Speaking about the fortress, it is worth remembering that the amount of water that is involved in the preparation of the drink, as well as the preparation time, affect the amount of caffeine in the cup. Water leaches caffeine and makes the taste softer. But this does not mean at all that caffeine will become less.
