What kind of young artists to buy right now

From June 8 to July 31, the VI International Biennale of Young Art takes place in Moscow. More than 50 artists from around the world under the age of 35 years presented their work on it. But contemporary artists are not just exhibited in galleries or museums - often their work can be bought. This is not necessarily expensive: the popularization of contemporary art launched the process of democratization of prices, which led to the fact that some citizens began to lay the cost of paintings in the budget for repairs. Even auction houses and art fairs, in which the works of young artists began to appear, could not ignore the interest in middle-class art. Life around asked the journalist and co-owner of the Oily Oil gallery, Ekaterina Polozhentseva, to select the work of contemporary Russian artists that are affordable both in terms of approach and price.

The phrases that became memes, “I would hug you, but I'm just a text”, “The more light, the less visible” or “Who are we, where are we from, where are we going?” temporarily become part of the urban environment, but remain in photographs for the sake of forever. In the spring of 2018, Dubinsky hosted a large personal exhibition supervised by Sofya Simakova in the Triumph Gallery, after which Alexey’s appearance on this list was a great success: Dubinsky’s large (meter per meter) works have long gone out of the category of prices that should be called out loud.
